Hi,I'm just setting up new pc I purchased from overclockers and doing an install via usb. I'm at the page where it asked where I want to install windows and shows the partitions. I've got a 2tb hard drive and a 500gb. I said to them before it was built that I wanted to use the 2tb for windows and games and the 500gb for video files but the 500gb partition is named 'windows' and the 2tb 'data' so I'm guessing they installed windows on the 500gb to do the stress tests. Also there's about 60gb still being used on the 500gb,is windows still installed? (They said they would delete windows after doing the stress tests. I went straight into bios when I turned pc on for first time so not sure)

So my question is can I install Windows on the 2tb hard drive even though it says 'data'? And do I need to delete anything here first? I've taken a picture of the screen but I couldn't work out how to add it here but it reads like this:

Drive 0 Partition 1: SYSTEM 100mb/free space 64mb/System

Drive 0 Partition 2: 16mb/16mb/MSR

Drive 0 Partition 3: Windows 455.9 GB/free space 396.1 GB/Primary

Drive 0 Partition 4: Recovery 9.8 GB/free space 9.2 GB/Recovery

Drive 1 Partition 1: Data 1863 GB/free space 1862.8 GB/Primary

Many thanks

You're correct to say Windows is installed on the 500GB drive (Drive 0 from what you posted).

Yes you can reinstall Windows to the 2TB drive called data, the names given to drives don't affect Windows as they're simply to make it easier for the user, you, to identify what drive is what and can be renamed when in Windows by right clocking on the drive, going to properties, and typing in a new name in the box on the general tab.

TBH if it were me i wouldn't reinstall Windows, unless you really want to, i would use an backup/imaging app like Macrium Reflect (Major Geeks link) to clone/image what's on the 500GB drive to the 2TB drive and then change the 2TB drive to be the primary/first boot option in the BIOS. Then after making sure it's using the version of Windows you just cloned/copied over to the 2TB drive you can format the 500GB drive and uninstall Macrium.

if you have nothing to loose, then start again rename drive's format and if it were me i would install windows on the smallest drive. Do a clean install how you want it then back it up (if you want too)
