Yesterday, my old faithful Q6600 rig froze.
First time, when my lad was playing World of Warcraft - the game just froze with him in mid-flight;
Second time, a a bit later, I was firing up BF3, but the game was still minimised, as the first map hadn't yet loaded.

Symptoms: the screen turned pinky-purple, with very much of a "mesh" look to it - like a very fine grid overlaid on the usual display. And it was "speckling". I know that's not a word, but it's the best I can come up with :) it was like individual pixels were dancing about.
I thought it was a GFX card problem, but I had very little mouse response - I could hardly move it, but it would respond for a split-second, as I was trying to get it to the Windows button. But then the screen would blink, and it would just re-appear at the top of the screen.

Any ideas?

Specs:

Q6600 @ stock;
ASUS P5KC Combo mobo;
OCZ Platinum 4GB 1066MHz RAM;
Corsair TX 650w PSU;
MSI GTX560Ti 2048MB. (bought @ OCUK Oct 2011)

It's usually rock solid for hours of BF3, WoW, Arkham City, Skyrim etc.

After I restarted it last night, I fired up BF3 and it ran OK - but for those of you who play, on Kharg, coming from D across to C, as I went to cross the road, the buildings across the road weren't drawn - just the sea! That's never happened before. I had to get halfway across the road before those buildings between D and C popped up. And they're pretty much in front of me. Very worrying.

Any help appreciated - it's served me well since October '08!

Does sound like a problem with the graphics card. Do you have any problems with your pc when not playing games?

Could download atitool (works with nvidia cards) and try scanning for artifacts to see if its stable.
