I was resizing a partition because I wanted to add linux in a dual boot setup, but I think partition magic fouled up.

I have run PM error check - and it says the partition was incorrectly dismounted, and now booting stops after checking the dmi pool or something. It says there is a problem loading the o/s anyway.

I dont have an asr floppy for my fubared sata hdd (I'm currently on an old ide).

In my old xp install, I can see the files from my most recent install (on the other hdd), and I am backing them up onto a partition of my ide.

Is there anything I can do to fix the mbr?

Chagrinned,

nothing has worked :(

I think I have also managed to delete the partition which contained all the data I wanted to keep. grrr.
