My 15 month old K800i has just died. I accidentally let the battery drain to zero, and despite a full re-charge, all it does when I switch on is:

Flash white screen > Sony Ericsson Logo > Permanently flashes white screen / black screen.

I have to remove the battery to stop this. I tried flashing the BIOS - the phone was picked up fine by the SE Update tool - but no difference. The BIOS was the latest anyway, flashed a couple of months ago.

Any ideas would be very welcome!

Just had the same problem, went to move a photo from one folder to another and the battery died. After leaving it on charge for a while i turned it on to only get a flashing screen. Every 10 secs the screen lights up for about 2 secs. Havent tried flashing it cause i dont have the software in my pc anymore. Can these be reset any other way?

It was a contract phone, my old one. Got an n95 this time last year and gave her it. Oh well just ordered the 8gb n95 for myself so she can have my other one now. Just wish it was easy fixed, be handy as a back up phone. Miss the video editter too :(

I'm glad I'm not the only one this has happened to. It happened to my third k800i when i went on holiday - went to take out the sim card and tried to turn it back on again and it died.

So called Orange again for a replacement and they wanted me to take out emergency insurance (£35) for which of course you have to sign up for a 12 month agreement for them to take out £6 per month.

I argued saying that the two last times I called because it broke they just sent out a new one the next day. She said that the screen wouldn't let her and that I could try Sony Ericsson who would repair it free of charge, or I could have my free upgrade early.

Orange's phone upgrade selections are **** though and I can't decide what I want.

So annoying that they don't replace the phone, luckily I still have a K250i that I am using.

The other stupid thing when they DID replace the phone, was that you had to have like for like, even though I argued that I was fed up of this phone and didn't want the same one as it will probably happen again, I even asked for a downgrade and they couldn't send me that either!

Pathetic!

cant help with the brokenness but with orange you have to fight for a decent upgrade in my expierience

infact i even threatened to leave and was in the process of leaving before some woman started apologising saying that they shouldnt of let me get that far before offering what i wanted :p

theyre customer service is very hit and miss. ive had phones replaced instantly before (next day courier) and had to wait a week before. think it must depend on who you get on the phone :S

Had a problem with my old K800i whre it wouldn't turn on at all, hooked it up to WotanServer and reflashed it and all was ok again. A few weeks back my K850i (4 weeks old) died where it will turn on, but only the buttons light up and that's as far as it will go, it's currently gathering dust on my desk whilst i use my fixed K800i until i can be arsed taking it in to get it repaired as i didn't fancy the we will replace with other 'repaired' phone option.
