Help: Kittens!

I feel your pain brother! Garages are meant for accumulating household junk - not being all clean and tidy... Mine hasn't been sorted in years, and long may it continue!

Edit - no idea about the camera though, sorry. But there's no guarantee that you'll be able to spot exactly where she's getting out, or find her only escape route (particularly if your garage is as cluttered-up as mine). I hate to say it, but a clearout might be your best bet.

I will be clearing it out but if she is still getting out I will need to know where she is getting out from.

Do you not have a secure room in your house instead Stelly? As I have already said you need to get them in your actual house to get them used to being in the house and it will be far cheaper and less hassle than clearing the garage out and getting cameras!!

And you have said the mother does use the litter tray so no worries there. And after a couple of weeks you can let the mum cat out to explore the rest of the house etc.

She really wouldn't take to the house... I just have that feeling... and I still cannot get close enough to her to catch her she throws a wobbler and pegs it... I don't want to scare her off the kittens at the moment, when they start eating this may be different.

Hey guys,

I have an old laptop and webcam which I'm going to use to try and find out where she is getting out from... I'm definitely going to the skip on the weekend but I cant get rid of everything so at least with the cam I can find out where she is getting out from :)

Yer Duff-Man I do that and when I first come in and I'm approaching she is hissing at me, but when I sit down she is okay... she does the whole long blink and sometimes falls asleep, but I'm not sure about touching her as when I first come in there is a lot of hissing until I sit down next to them.

To be honest mate... I could do with any help anyone could give towards looking after them... I'm a little skint at the moment I didn't realise how much cat litter or food the mother eats and I still have to get some more litter trays for then the kittens are pooping and also a lot more food and litter when they are more grown up...

If anyone can help a little I would appreciate it a lot as I'm skint at the moment and I promise... pinky promise that every single penny will be spent on these cats/kittens and nothing else...

paypal address is stelly [at] me [dot] com

I hate asking for money but I'm just thinking about the rest of this month and next... and I thank you a million for anything you can contribute.

Stelly

Are you not giving them away at some point then? If you could get a few quid to help cover food, bedding etc, for the next 6-8 weeks, they will be the size where they can go to their new "furever homes" and that's mission accomplished :)

Basically I have been told between 10 - 12 weeks is the norm before giving them away is this right?

I'm currently waiting for the CPL to get back to me about neutering them all... I'm hoping to give people that have the kittens vouchers to get them done free....

Message in trust Stelly

If I give one a home (which is highly likely) I will pay for his/her vac's - I don't expect you to fund those mate

Also, to anyone else, if you are on benifits and you have a kitty that needs 'doing' and/or chipping keep an eye out on your local RSPCA or CPL, they tend to do offers where you pay a reduced cost for the procedure and you can sometimes get the vac's and chipping for free (obvs you have to show evidence that you are on benefits)

Hey

I have emailed you back... thanks :)

Stelly

You star!

I do appreciate all of the support and help I'm getting in this thread... I did a massive garage clean out this morning and have put a motion dectector webcam in there in the hope that I can find out where she is getting out from... if she can now that is :)

Stelly

No problem mate.

Hope it all works out well! :)

I hope so too mate I'm going to keep this thread up to date :)

You sir...are a total gentleman. I applaud you and thank you for your donation. It's people like you that do all the good in the world :)

I could not agree more :)

As for the webcam she has not gone out today its not nice outside but I can tell that the kittens are really annoying her as they are climbing all over her and her looks says it all :)

I've got no money at the moment, but I'd be willing to break into my savings to chip in for a

Hey all!

Quick update Did more of a garage tidy before TrixiBuG came around for a look at the Kittens to ensure that I was doing the right thing... its nice to get someones in real life opinion on how the kittens are looking.

Two of them are wondering around the garage having a good sniff and passing out after eating some of the kitten food :) One of them came up to me and had a good meow which I pick up (the one that you want TrixiBuG)

After TrixiBuG I feel more confident that the garage is safe enough for them... even though its a right mess!

I have a vid which I will put up later on :)

Stelly

Hey guys....

Just a quick hello to tell you that everything is going okay and that I'm very thankful for all your support I'm going to put a massive update tomorrow about how its all going and a few pics.... I was also debating a vid that I shot.... :D

Stelly

Okay here goes...

Basically its been a mad few days and I have not been able to update this thread as much as I would like... but this is going to be a massive update as I now have enough time to sort it....

All Kittens and mother are doing very well... mother has not been out much as the weather has not been great... here is the latest picture of her with kitten (village of the damned style!) couldn't get a good shot without the flash unfortunately...

I have done a lot of tidying over the weekend as I had my dad's van and was able to get to the skip and back a few times... I do need to do some adjustment as the kittens are starting to get more mobile now running around and playing which is just fantastic. Here are some more shots of them playing and exploring.

A couple of them are not as developed as the other 2... 2 of them will come up to me have a sniff and a stroke and will eat... the other two have never done anything like that and prefer to stay in the basket and I have not seem them eat yet, but they are taking milk still off their mother.

They are starting to eat now... the are all eating the kitten food but also trying their best (and I think succeeding) at eating the mothers wet food as well... I'm wondering if this will have a detrimental effect on them and if I should try and put the mother's food somewhere else where they cannot reach it?

On to the poop... my god! I have a Rotty and she doesn't do half as much or even half as smelly... and I use to feed her on raw tripe! They are all now pooping in the litter tray... I'm really proud of the fact that I recognised when one of the kittens was going to poop and put him in the tray... but I'm definitely going to need a bigger boat so to speak I'm going to get another litter tray on the weekend as one is not enough for 5 cats to poop in.... even if 4 of them have jelly bean sized poops :)

I am thinking about giving her less tinned wet food as I'm getting a lot of, erm, sloppy joes from her at the moment, any advice on this?

As I hinted at about 2 of the kittens are coming up to me and having a sniff... I can pick them up and they will sit on my knee and not try and run off which is great as I can see them becoming more and more tame, and pics of them on my knee:

I have a couple of videos that I will upload soon of them playing around so you can seem them in action, it can be very funny to watch at times :)

The mother is spending more and more time out of 'The Pen' I think this is just to get more space... I can see her sitting outside getting some space, not that I blame her with 4 kittens and she seems to be more tame with me as she is eating in front of me and also not darting away from the door when I come in which is always progress.

On a side note I would like to thank both utajoker and elmarko for their help... its was really needed and gratefully received! Here is what elmarko sent over:
