I'm looking at upgrading my PC for better gaming, could anyone please advise on the best route?

Current Setup:

P4 3.2 800FSB
MSI 875P Mainboard
2GB DDR400 (4x512 Dual Channel)
2x IDE 160GB HDD
Audigy 2 Soundcard
Nvidia GeForce 6200 512MB
Samsung CDROM
SONY DVD+/- DVDr/RW
Liteon 52xCDRW

I'm looking for upgrade(s) so I can run my BF2142 and Flight Sim X at full settings without effecting performance. I know I maybe looking at a new mainboard and CPU but your recomendations in regards to the cheapest route would be grateful.

Many thanks in advance

it depends greatly on your budget.

the cheapest route right now is to look for an AGP version of nVidia's GeForce 7800 graphics card

Intel Core 2 DUO E4300 "LGA775 Allendale" 1.80GHz (800FSB)
Corsair 2GB DDR2 Value Select PC5300 Dual Channel Kit (2x1GB)
Gigabyte GA_965P_DS3 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
Leadtek GeForce 7950 GT 256MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express)

this would set u back ard £512.25 inc VAT.

You might wanna add a SATA hdd.

This is just a rough guide

Drop that 7950 GT down to a x1950 Pro, and then you could add a SATA HDD and a new PSU for just around 600 notes (I think).

Hi all.

Sorry to change my requirements but I've decided to stick with my MOBO and CPU and just upgrade my Graphics, Case to make my puter faster and try and make it more silent so I have some cash to spend on the children (stop the mrs moaning).

I've heard that my MSI 875P and P4 3.2 is a good overclocker, is this true (noob here)?

I would also be looking at a new Dual DVD Writer/ CDRW/ CDROM and possibly a VISTA Upgrade with a SATA HDD.

I'm sorry for changing my requirments and I appreciate all your help now and that what was provided before.

How do you all rate the "Sapphire ATI Radeon X1950 PRO 512MB AGP" and does this require any extra power from a CPU?

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you, PSU is;

Herolchi Electronic Co LTD
HEC-300AR-PT
Total Output 300W
Pentium 4 12v

Thats all the info I could find on the PSU. Not a great PSU by all means :(

Many Thanks

Can you also recomend a Case for that PSU and also a good silent fan/cooling for my P4 3.2. The fan supplied with my CPU sounds like it's going to take my PC to a far away land :( Even though it's been changed by Intel 3 times.

Many Thanks for your assistance
