Hello,

Well recently for some bizarre reason it seems that my internet programs (Chrome and IE doing the same) lag every now and then. For example when typing in to this thread box every now and then the typing will stop showing and then all of a sudden will appear at once.

Also, when I click on links it takes a short while for anything to happen. I've never had this problem before so I don't know whats causing it. I really don't want to have to reformat just for a problem like this so if anyone knows what is causing it I'd be grateful..

Also when scrolling down the page the browser stops for a second and then jumps down.

I ran a virus scan and a spyware scan and found nothing...

Maybe its just your ISP throttling? I get the same problem when i go over my limit during peak hours....or if i have a lot of things open eg Photoshop,Chrome,Winamp my netbook slows down and i notice chrome lagging.

Check what processes are running through task manager and see which one is most active. The lag you describe when typing is common with wireless keyboards at times when they are getting interference. Can you not try another browser first? Seems a little extreme to reformat for such a simple problem. Why not try Firefox or Opera?? I had an old MS Wireless desktop and it used to do this at times until I changed the channel on the receiver.

I'm using a bluetooth MS keyboard and mouse. I can see where your coming from with that keyboard issue but I'm 99% sure its something program related because it takes a short while for the tab to load. Its a blank white page for a few seconds and then loads the page that should have preloaded.

I'll list my processes for you so you can see if anything is untoward.

digsby-app.exe 42,980K
chrome.exe 37k
dwm.exe 15k
explorer.exe 13k
chrome.exe 13k
chrome.exe 12k
CCC.exe 10k

The rest aren't anything interesting... Does the fact I have 3 chrome processes suggest something is wierd there or is this the norm for chrome?

I would try Firefox or Opera mate. Don't wipe your machine on the basis a browser is acting up. Im using IE8 and I hate to say it... but it's great ! Try another browser first for god's sake, because if your anything like me, it will take ages to get your machine back to 'the way it was'. Are other apps working ok?

I redownloaded it and it seems to be working at the moment. Hopefully it will stay that way! I love chrome too much to move from it :D

Thanks for all the suggestions!

What's the attraction with Chrome if you don't mind me asking? You do know they monitor everything you do online, but argue it's all anonymous data they collect?

Is nineteen classed as wee nipper nowadays? :D

I didn't even get to do ICT in school! They stopped it for some reason. They said it wasn't a good enough GCSE.... Which in all fairness I do agree with. I probably could have passed it when I was 10.

When I was 19, it was a big deal if you had an Amiga 1200 with 32MB of RAM and a proper HDD. lol !! How times have changed !

I had the same issues on my Mac. Safari ran so slow it's not even worth opening. I had Google Chrome which worked well(ish) but not snappy enough for my taste. Using Opera now for the first time ever and kicking myself for not trying it sooner. It loads even the heaviest content pages in the blink of an eye and I run 8+ threads at the same time, clicking between them as fast as anything whilst Opera runs it all without a hitch.
