Why is it that if you have a USB device plugged in and you unplug then plug it in a different USB socket it wants to re-install it.

This happened with my webcam tonight, plugged it in after it had been unplugged for a week, starts installing then says it doesn't work with this version of windows, weird cos it worked last week.

So I download the Vista drivers myself, try to install in compatibility mode, get all kinds of errors, my start menu and all icons disappear.

Now Everytime I reset it tries to install the webcam again, it's not even plugged in.

I tried removing it from the registry and start-up but it always comes back.

How can I stop it? I'm currently in safe mode.
