This is with overclock off and all options on auto in the bios..

Ok so I press the power on switch, I get a single post beep, bios screen loads up, all hardware is listed, BIOS checks are done, then I just get a black screen....

This is ok, because I have the machine set on no GUI boot.

All that happens next, is a get a multicoloured line across the top of the screen, which seems to get slightly slightly thicker every few seconds. Don't know, perhaps its just me imagining it. Nothing happens after that...

I'm using ASUS expressgate to type this, and access web. Does that rule out board and GPU?

Can you get into windows i safe mode? if so then you're probably looking at a driver error - my first guess would be gpu

If you don't know how to get into safe mode, just hold F8 once you've heard the POST beep and it'll give you a list of boot options

Select Safe Mode (or S.M. with networking if you want to look for driver updates etc...)

I fixed it, by using the windows 7 disc to to a repair start up recovery thing.

Previous to this, I had put the PC into sleep mode, which never ever seems to work properly because 9 times out of 10 I come back and it has woken itself back up without me even pressing the power on button.

Have no idea what is causing this, but it is the last ever time I use sleep mode.

Thanks anyway dude.

EDIT: Safe mode wouldn't work, F8 didn't do anything.
