Help! machine won't Boot

Got a BSOD yesterday and the machine would not restart and appeared dead. This morning we reset the BIOS and a tiny bit of life came back - when the power is first applied the graphics card fan and CPU fan move slightly and a the grahics card light lit briefly. Otherwise it is dead. I had assumed the power supply was dead but there seems to be some power to the board as shown by the above.

Could this be a dead motherboard and what else could I check to find out? I would be grateful for any help on this.
 
No , often what happens is the default settings wont get you through a boot, reseting the cmos gets you back to default, but this often doesnt feed your ram/cpu the volts it needs to complete a boot, get into your bios and set the correct voltage settings for your ram and cpu type. Ask on here if you dont know, or use google . Just report back with your cpu name, mobo and ram name and details m8 ...

Likely nothings dead, just configured incorrectly.
 
Thank for the help but it won't work. The machine will not get though BIOS checks let alone boot into the BIOS screen.

Sadly I do not have a spare PSU. However, the PSU did not show any signs of failing - smell, bangs or whatever.

Tried with 1 stick of RAM but no luck there.
 
Okay thats an issue id hate to ahve to troubleshoot, back to basics i'd say, remove every peripheral even the hdd's just have the gpu and the mobo plugged in, fire it up and see if you observe the same amount of nothing. Although im leaning towards faulty mobo if it wont even attempt to post.
 
no luck with just motherboard and graphics card. It is plain dead. I have found the possibility of a power supply I might use to test so might be able to eliminate the possibility but it looks like the motherboard may have died.
 
OK done some testing with my son (^^^) and we think the motherboard has gone.

Connected his PSU to my motherboard and switched on only for the case fans to barely twitch. On attempting to power up again the fans won't spin until the power cable is removed and re-inserted.

Exactly the same happened with my old PSU.

Is this definitely the motherboard that has failed?
 
Unplug any dvd and hard drives, case fans, case led's, pci and other cards, and ram. Plug only one stick of ram in, your graphics cards, and the cpu cooler fan. See if it will boot then. If that doesn't work, try a different ram stick in another slot.

If you get it to boot then start plugging stuff back in and keep trying until you find the cause.
