took out my an8u/3000+ combo and installed a p5b/e4300 in the same rig and its not showing anything when starting up. using a enermax 465w psu so shouldnt have any power problems.

cleared the CMOS, checked all the power settings and nothing. the fans turn, leds on the gfx card turn on, hdd whirrs but nothing shows up on screen.

as mentioned its the same peripherals i had before but just not working.

the only thing i can think of is that the board has a 2x12 power connection, my psu only has a 2x10 connection. its an enermax EG465P-VE psu.

the abit worked fine using the 2x10, wonder if the asus doesnt like it as i've ruled out the gfx being the problem as it boots no problem.

reading around that some P5B's bios arent current enough to POST with a c2d cpu and the way to fix it is to put an old 775 cpu in there to flash the bios, now what the heck am i supposed to do as i dont have access to an older 775 to do so.

should i just return it?

If you can get on MM, you may get a cheap one off there, or you could possibly ask someone to lend you one if you have a good trust rating :)

It appears I have the same problem

My P5B won't boot at all with my C2D chip.

I've not got another 775 cpu to use.

How can this possibly be allowed? The amount of time I have wated messing about with this rig is just unbelievable.

What are we supposed to do? RMA the board and get it back saying it's fine, or get another one that has the same old BIOS?
