Hello, all

I'm hoping someone here might have encountered this. The pc was working ine last night, and for the past year and a half, but when I tried to turn it on this morning all I'm getting is "Warning Main Bios Checksum Error" and then it attempts to recover it and I get "Backup Bios Checksum Error" as well.

Has anyone encountered this and if so is there anything that can be done or is it dead?

I'm truely scratching my head here as nothing has touched it or happened to it since last night.

Any help or advice would be appreciated as I really need it back up and running asap for some work I've got to do...even if that means ordering another board.

Thanks.

It's worth trying another CMOS battery for a BIOS checksum error. Last time I seen one was due to a dead battery causing the BIOS to loose it's settings and hence giving the checksum error at boot.

We also had the same at work, might also be worth the trick of turning the battery over and then booting the PC. Otherwise have you tried any updating of the BIOS recently?! My Asus board came up with this once, but recovered itself from a previous version of the BIOS.

sorry router died last week, back online now though :)

no i havent changed anything to the computer in months and haven't seen this error in a week. i only ever saw this error in the morning after i turn the computer on for the first time of the day. my parents turn the power off at night in a dumb ass attempt to save money. could it have anything to do with disconnecting the power?
