I'm hoping to get a new pc soon. I haven't really played that many games of recent time, other than on my 360. This is because I'm still on pentium 4 :p
At the moment the most graphically demanding games I have are:

The Orange Box
Age of Empires 3 (+ expansions)
Sim City Societies

Other than that, I can max out everything else that I have, as it's stuff like older aoe games, Baldurs Gate, the original Ghost Recon etc.

I made a list:

Now, what should I take off that list, and what should I add? Eg: I've got 3 Assassin's Creed games and 2 Bioshock games on there, are the earlier ones necessary to understand the story line? etc

Thanks OcUK :)

EDIT: I've changed some things.

Removed: Bioshock 2, Arma 2, Left 4 Dead 2, Far Cry 2, Vegas 2, World in conflict, Frontlines, Assassin's creed, Assassin's creed Brotherhood, Just Cause 2, Stalker,
Added: Metro 2033, Fear2: Project Origin, Borderlands

Dead Space belongs on that list if you like survival horror. Gruesome game with pretty tasty graphics and the sequel is due soonish.

I wouldn't bother with Bioshock 2, i felt it was rubbish and not a patch on its predecessor. It's also totally unnecessary in terms of plot as the story of Bioshock 1 is tied up within itself and the 'true' sequel, Bioshock: Infinite is again its own self contained story. Get Bioshock, enjoy that and if you really MUST get bioshock 2 do so later, there's much better games in that list.

Also avoid Farcry2, it's a terrible game imo. Nothing in it is related to the original game other than name. The setting, characters and even the people who developed the game are not the same as those in Farcry.

I'm failing to see Starcraft 2 in that list, fix it.

Okay, thanks :)

What about FEAR, is that worth getting?

I loved FEAR, a lot, but many didn't; it's a Marmite game. It has repetitive gunfights but i felt the guns, AI and general gameplay were so tight and satisfying that didn't matter. It also had what i'd rate as a good storyline for a FPS.

I love marmite ;)

I played the demo on the 360. It was good and very scary too, I think I was 12 at the time. I played it at 4 in the morning with a bunch of mates and they all crapped their pants :D

Why don't you just buy one game, see if you like it, complete it, and then buy another:)

Rather than blowing all your money on loads of games, you will be too distracted trying to play them all at once and won't enjoy it.

I suggest you buy crysis, both that and warhead will keep you busy for a while and it's a great thing to test out a new system. I really enjoyed the story too, don't get hung up on bad reviews, it's great.

The problem is that I like to have several on the go at once. When I have free time, like summer hols, I can game for a few hours. But not on a single game. Eg: Someone lent me GTA IV on 360, and I'm LOVING it, but the most I spent on it was 1 hour, and I usually spend 25-30 mins playing on it each time then move onto another game.

Also some of the games in the list are old and hard to get hold of. eg: doom3. So the longer I leave it, the more difficult it will be to get some of those games

Definitely ditch far cry 2 as its a pretty naff game. Its just respawning enemies and nothing really original added in to boot.

SC2 needs to be on the list and I'd also add the FEAR games which you mentioned earlier in the thread. Also the COD games pack you can get on steam is a decent buy as they are good games, plus also get the dawn of war games as they are fantastic.

Apart from that, company of heroes series are also worth a look if you like RTS games, as is supreme commander 1 + its expansion (the 2nd got some dodgy reviews compared to the first)

Apart from that, batman arkham asylum is superb if you haven't already tried that on a console.

Frontlines is a bit avergage to say the least and so is Rainbow 6 Vegas 2.

Bioshock 2 is nowhere near as good as 1.

BFBC 2 will keep you busy enough with th MP, that you can certainly drop ArmA II.

FarCry 2 is a Marmite game, you will love it or hate. I liked it, but there are plenty of people who hate it.

Assassains Creed isn't that good that you need to buy all three games.

I would buy BFBC 2, then buy all the other games on your list only when they appear on sale on Steam.

BFBC2 MP will keep you entertained long enough to get most of the other games cheap, maybe get 1 or 2 other single player games as well.

Which one should I buy, because I quite like adventure games like this?

I think that most of the games are pretty good prices anyway. Far cheaper than Steam, so surely I wouldn't really save much by buying when on sale?

Get Left 4 Dead 2 , Batman AA, Crysis and maybe Dirt 2. That should be plenty for a while.

Get the first one, it will be cheaper and will set you up for playing the others when they are cheaper.

As an example, Borderlands is £6.79 on Steam at the moment, much cheaper than retail.

GTA IV has been £5 on Steam many times, Crysis Complete has been £14.99, Batman GOTY and Fallout 3 GOTY with all the DLC has been £14.99, Doom 3 was on offer last week at £4.75, Bioshock and STALKER have been £3.75.

So you just bide your time.

Yes definatley get borderlands whilst it's on sale. I'm 17 hours into that now. Crysis complete was £9.99 and Stalker was £1.75

ah okay thank you very. I think that the GTA IV deal is the one to look out for. £5 is dirt cheap

Hey, I did a very similar thing last september i built a new pc jumping from an old p4 to the system in my sig which will play anything. I went a little game crazy and have a stash of games i bought straight away as i have never had time to play them, these being mainly farcry2, crysis maximum edition, fallout3, empire total war. I would not be worried about not being to get old games they seem to be easily available.

Once you start using steam you can get a tonne of games in the cheap offers. I too like to jump around between games currently playing Dirt2, ME2, Civ4, MW2 and SC2.
