Help me break my crappy work PC!

ooooooh, and I assume that doesn't kill any other components except the mobo?

Can anyone find one for a Asus P4C 800E Deluxe ?!

Why exactly do you need the specific BIOS? It really really REALLY doesn;t matter.

Voltage switch at the back is the easiest. Do it whilst it is on for maximum effect.

A lot os PSU'd havent had these switches for a while now though!

Could try shorting USB ports. Just wiggle paperclips etc in them.

+1 for the BIOS flashing, or failing that pop open the case, build up some static and poke various things until your machine crashes :D

Other thoughts:

Remove + reinsert RAM while the machine is on.
Put jumpers over various fan connectors on the mobo.

update the BIOS and turn it off half way.

Simple, just wont POST or boot ever. :p

This is probably the easiest, simpliest and safest.

Messing with the PSU is not a good thing if it burns or shorted it might trip one or more of the building
safety breakers which can result to power loss and probably cause damage to electrical equipment
connected inc. other pc's and if you get caught, prolly byebye job.

lol

Why would desktops be running w08 server on desktop machines?

Whats the price on a server licence, last 3 I purchased for 2 VM's and 1 IBM box was standard and that was not cheap.

Hopefully the machine is locked down and you dont have admin password to the bios in the first place :P

The following is not legal advice.

Criminal damage is at the very least a sackable offence.

That you have made your malicous intent a part of public knowledge is stupid beyond measure. I hope the name in your op is an obscure joke and not your actual name.

Pretend this is a joke and pray that nothing bad happens to your computer in the near future.

UPDATE: OK I can't get into the BIOS so I think the paper clip in the back of the PSU would be best. I'll try and do it later today when most of office go into a meeting. So I should turn the PC off first right?

Everyone is running Windows Server 2008 at your place?
That really doesn't seem like a good idea for all your workstations and must be a real drain on the finances for all those licenses!

No I mean almost everyone is on terminals.. is that right?

First have a look at the back of the PC and the power supply. Does it have a voltage switch that is switchable from 240v to 135v (or whatever the second number is can't remember). If it does. Just turn the PC off, flick the voltage switch down to the non 240v number. Turn it back on and be prepared for it to go bang. This is not a joke, it probably will pop quite loudly and smell of burning. I accidentally did this to an old PC when one of my kids flicked the voltage switch. I nearly sh4t myself when I turned it on.
If you cannot get into the bios then my personal next approach would be to physically modify the hardware. Easiest method is probably to take the CPU out and bend one or two of the pins on it or the motherboard. Reinsert it and try to boot. Probably won't and nobody will know or think to check that. Just make sure you are subtle so it could have happened ay anytime - unlikely I know, but just cover all bases.

All that will do is stop the fan spinning. If it's anything like a standard old Dell/HP unit it probably won't have much affect and will keep working for a while. See my post above.
