Help me Cheat - Quiz at work

not sure about spider silk, spider silk is generally only a few micron, on that image the unidentified object is potentially too large

I'm also a bit confused... their "clue" example is something literal whereas all of these answers are thinking outside the box a bit.

at 350x number 1 should just visible to the naked eye?
i wonder if it is a printed dot?
the crystals in the middle are clearly an inorganic salt of some kind.
bare in mind that the colours mean nothing and that dot could actually be black in real life.
actually the more i think about it the more i think it could be an inkjet dot - do the sizes match?
it would also match the security topic.

3 is clearly a hair of some kind - you can tell from the cuticle scales. so a spiders web would sort of fit. don't know where else a hair could be relevant to computers???

#1 is not a virus, not that size (abouyt 300µm wide) It looks like a frozen water droplet as you can see the progression of freezing (think ********* but inwards)

#3 is hair i'd say given the width (~100µm)

#2 is certainly a bit more interesting - I'd go with torn paper edge as you can see the structure on the bulk and then some fibres coming off the edges.

fig 3 on this does look a bit like that.

I'm still thinking #3 looks a bit like a bonding wire but then it does look like hair. Maybe it's a hairy 'bug'

microdot

Youve probably already done this but hey ho.... why dont you just do a google image search for "electron microscope" Then trawl through the images to see if you find a similar pic to the ones in the compo?

But you're right that all of the images will have a name at least which will be related to computers, internet, IT security and suchlike.

I think you're right with the printed dot.

The others - shredded paper edge, and the final one a hair found between keys on a keyboard.

Since the answer to 3 is possibly "web", and since we recently had the 20th anniversary of the world wide web, perhaps try to find the answers to 1 and 2 using the words "world" and "wide" as clues.
