Hi everyone,

So my trusty Dell XPS M1530 has died on me after 4 years of use, so I am in the market for a new laptop. With a budget of ~£1000 I have been browsing around for the past few weeks but have not been able to come to a decision. With a faulty graphics chip being the cause of death for my dell, I have liked the idea of the clevo laptops ability to swap out parts as required.

So my question is what is best spec laptop available for around £1000? Ideally something between 13"-15" and general use would be watching movies and gaming.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You said it Chill, your best option is a Clevo if you want the best bang for your buck, if you don't mind it's aesthetics it's a no brainer

Thanks for your reply, it seems the clevo is the way to go. I was interested in which way to spec it in terms of CPU/GPU and HDD/SSD in order to get the best performance for the price. I've read that the performance of the 7970m is excellent, so is it worth the extra £££ to include?

Hmm well including anyone of those GPUs will most definitely take me over the £1000 mark, even without including an operating system (which isn't needed by the way).

That does seem like a bargain for the price, a little concerned about the APU though. I've seen clevo builds with an i5, gtx670m and 240gb SSD for a little under 900 how will that compare?

But if the GX60 seems like the better buy i'll place an order at lunch,
Thanks.

For gaming the GX60 would beat a Clevo i5/GTX670m combo by a significant amount from what I have read...for gaming it's mostly down the the GPU and in that regard 7970m is streets ahead of the GTX670m.

No, but the GX60 can be upgraded to one, I attached a clevo keyboard to mine and it worked, though I would highly recommend an MSI one for the sake of quality.
