As per the title really. Went into a store to try some today and came out with mixed feelings.

I don't do any fancy video editing so I don't need a powerful spec, so was going to opt for the macbook air that currently has rrp of £899.

However, I thought the screen resolution is a bit naff compared to current macbook and pro models. The macbook just appears diddy and small... the keyboard is weird as is the click on the touchpad.

The pro retailing for £1k looks nice, but aren't they about to revamp it...?

In short, is the current base level 13" macbook air a dud without the retina display, or won't I even notice. I do have a iphone 6s and think that has a nice screen, so holding them by each other there is a difference... but in reality......

I think that if you buy a Air, you'll have buyers regret because of the screen.
If the MacBook Pro is within your budget and will do what you want, buy it.

There are always rumours of replacements and there's a good chance of a refresh in the autumn but if you need one now, go for it.
