Hi

I'm looking for a quality monitor, 22" - 23" or so, in my rig I'm running 2 x 5850 Xtreme 1GB in xfire. I'm unsure about refresh rates, will be used for gaming.

Budget around £350.

Any ideas please?

Dell ultrasharp 23" is fairly unbeatable at image quality and has good response rates... if you want better response rates, or 3D you will have to sacrifice some image quality... the Ultrasharp sells on here around £220.. you can find them sub £200 occasionaly when places do offers... It's as high quality as you can get, with a brilliant panel guarantee

^ Not the best for gaming though.

Agreed, it isn't the very best for gaming.

However, it certainly isn't bad - many users on these forums have this monitor and use it for gaming and find it to be great for gaming. Also, due to the high quality IPS panel it uses, the colour accuracy and viewing angles are much better than the TN panel monitors it usually competes with.

For the best pure gaming monitor the best bet is probably a 120Hz TN panel monitor like this. However the usage is more general than pure gaming (internet browsing, video watching, applications etc.), then I would strongly suggest going for the U2311H, the IPS panel it uses is really worth it.

8ms response time is massive.

Not really, since the response time tests aren't standardised. Have a look here to see how it compares to a range of other monitors in terms of responsiveness.

It isn't the best, but I certainly wouldn't qualify the response time as "massive", and thus vastly inferior to modern TN panel monitors.

Hi

Thanks for the input, I went for the U2311H, done a bit of research and loads of people play games and don't complain about the lag.

Cheers
