Wireless-N, I'm on cable (10MB), and budget for router alone is <£130

I'll be using a PC via Wireless-N - as well as a 360 via G

I've been considering the D-Link DIR-655 - but I keep hearing not so good results when used in mixed mode which I'll be doing.

any other recommendations at this price point please ?

currently have a Linksys WRT-54GL router, I'm not doing any video streaming anymore - so would just using G give me enough throughput anyway ? IE can G cope with 1.2mb/second which I Get with 10mb ?

I do a lot of gaming - is there any reduction in latency with N over G

ps I used to use DD-WRT firmware on the 54GL but I Didn't get on with it (it used to disconnect one or more of my PCs - no matter the config), and I tried the Tomato firmware but I could see out to the outside world with that firmware, I could see all of the LAN but couldn't get out to the Internet. I did some reading up and apparently with some cable modems it can have this problem, and you have to set up some manual routing, but by that time I'd given up.

thanks for any help, Buckster

Yes, 802.11g should be more than fast enough to max out your 10Mbps. It won't make any difference to latency either.
Both Tomato and DD-WRT should have just worked. Not getting an internet connection sounds like it changed the router's WAN MAC address (in which case restarting the modem should have fixed it).

tolien - thanks for the reply - perhaps I'll just stick with what I've got then

re the Cable Modem, I rebooted it several times after the Tomato firmware and it still wouldn't work :(
