help me choose memory for p6t deluxe OC palm edition

Hi all i am trying to decide on which 6gb kit to go for to finish my first build but am finding the information confusing!
I have downloaded the QVL list for the board which is straight forward but when i visit different manufacturer sites and use the memory configurators they tell me all sorts of kits are guaranteed to work with my board even though they are not listed on the QVL list! what does this mean!
Do i have to get memory which is on the QVL list?
At the moment i am leaning towards either corsair dominator 2000mhz or
G.skill ripjaws 2000mhz

advice and opinions please!!!!

Motherboard makers, don't test an awfull lot of ram, where as the memory makers will as well its what they make, im using memory thats not on my mobo's QVL list, not having any issue here really.

Aslong as its within spec of intels stuff, you should be fine to be honest, but best to wait for others to post too though.

+1

At the minute - I suggest going for this stuff. Good price, nice and fast.

Unless you are trying to break some benchmarking records, I wouldn't bother with 2000MHz RAM. Its a lot more expensive and the extra speed just doesn't improve performance at all. The X58 platform, with its triple channel memory mode simply has memory bandwidth in spades - even at 1333-1600MHz.

Also agree that the 2000mhz stuff is too pricey for what you will realistically notice in anything but benchmarking software. The price drop on the Corsair in the last week make that the all-round best bang for buck, imo. Personally went for the Kingston HyperX as it was very competitively priced elsewhere and it has worked flawlessly with my new i7 setup so far using XMP.

ok guys your point about the 2000mhz stuff being over the top has sunk straight in plus it makes things a bit cheaper.
sorry cmndr_andi but the ram you suggested just wont cut the mustard in my build as! wait for it! I dont like the look of it! lol.... ive got a bit of a black and red theme going on.
What do you think of these corsair's CMG6GX3M3A1600C7

Keep in mind that a 1600C7 "should" easily do 1866+ at C9 if you found yourself at a point where the memory frequency was bottlenecking a CPU OC. It's a solid choice and should esoterically go well with your red and black theme.
