Current tyres on my Astra are Bridgestone Potenzas 225/45/17 speed rating V.

I can only spend about £75-£90 per tyre and really don't have a clue what tyres I should be considering.

I've been quoted silly prices for more Potenzas so they're out.

Potenza's are only 100 each inc fitting on Blackcircles

Good spot. I didn't see that because I was looking specifically for speed rating V. It never occured to me that the same tyre with a higher rating might be cheaper.

Thanks for your input as well MrLOL I was interested in the Eagles and the price on Camskill is decent. If only I can find someone local to price match.

Everyone raves on about Camskill, but everytime i look, they are pretty much as expensive as Black Circles.

With Camskill you pay about £20 less per tyre, but have to pay £11(?) for delivery, then £10 per tyre to fit.

Black Circles, you pick your tyres, pick a garage near you to fit them and turn up at the time you selected. The price you pay is all inclusive of VAT and fitting.

I don't understand why people still use Camskill, apart from they have a slightly wider range of tyres?

EDIT: Just looked, RE050A's on Camskill in your size are £89 inc del and VAT. Then you've got to find a garage to fit them and you've got to take delivery of them. The same tyres are £100 on blackcircles and you just pick the time and place you want them fitted and turn up. :)

I noticed that as well and I'll probably use Blackcircles as they seem to sell at reasonable prices.

Gonna call Arnold Clark tomorrow though because their parts department told me they'd price match and I want to see if they'll honor their "10% off all parts" cards that they give out, even after matching a price. That'd be about £180 for two tires so kinda works out as free fitting.

They'll proabably tell me to bugger off. :D

How cheap blackcicles are depends on the brands. Uniroyal rainsports are £105 (ussing 225/45/17/ 91 here)

Camskill do the Uniroyals for £87 delivered.

However Pirelli P Zero Rosso for £104 fitted is spot on, Camskill want £94 before fitting and Delivery.

All i can say on the matter is once upon a time, I went el cheapo, and bought some Yokohama S-Drives for a Mercedez Benz C230 2.5 V6 Sport, with a staggered front and rear (model probably doesn't exist in Blighty) To complement my new purchase, i went out and bought a completely new set of the Yoko's and BIGGEST MISTAKE of my life.. I hated the car, it felt so grindy and noisy, because the tyres were new I thought I had something wrong with my car and not the tyres I'd just spent a tidy sum on... I thought I had a problem with my axel so grindy was the noise.. Anyway cutting a long story short, I had Mercedes change the wheels on the car, to shut me up... Car was 1000x better to drive, actually drove like a Benz for the 1st time in my ownership and the next day I had 4 Continental Sport Contacts 3's on order as a result. I'll never ever buy cheap tyres ever again.. I'll always go with what the manufacturer tests with the car from new.. NEVER AGAIN....

Unfortunately some &^%& rear ended me not long afterwards, and something happened to the steering wheel and alignment that was just never right again. With all my tyre woes prior so the car had to go.
