Hi there,

I am seeking some advice on completing my first build in about 15 years (been living on laptops until now).

I currently got a AMD Ryzen 9 5900x with a Asus X570 E Gaming Motherboard. Also got a Meshify 2 case.
What would be recommended to put in for getting good performance out of it?
I'm planning on using it for gaming and media creation (video, photo, potentially doing some streaming).

For RAM I have been looking at these

Been recommended this AIO by people
https://www.overclockers.co.uk/arct...ormance-cpu-water-cooler-240mm-hs-07b-ar.html

Terms of storage was thinking
https://www.overclockers.co.uk/wd-b...-solid-state-drive-wds100t2b0c-hd-56l-wd.html

and a SSD or similar for media storage.

Assuming it is worth going 850w+ for PSU?

Is it worth investing in some more fans as well? anything else I'm missing? (recently bought screen, keyboard and mouse so got that covered).

I'm not super careful with the budget but aim to end up on roughly £2k or less.

Cheers!

All good options.

The RAM is a bit on the expensive side though, I'd be looking at these:

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £338.98 (includes shipping: £0.00)

You're paying a premium for RGB either way, but with the Crucial Ballistix you're getting better timings and a £20 voucher for Gamesplanet -- which can be used to buy games and the like.

Yeah and I'm not super fuzzed over RGB, its a "nice to have" but won't lose sleep over it. find RAM kinda hard as I try to compare the the VQL of the motherboard but half the RAM isnt on there.- but like the look of the Viper ones, thanks!

If you're planning on buying games anytime soon I'd seriously be tempted by the Crucial if only for the improved timings to be honest. They essentially come out to £168 when you factor that in, and the stuff you buy on Gamesplanet has the added bonus of activating on Steam if you prefer your games in one place. I'm pretty sure they're Micron-E die also, so you should be able to squeeze more out of them if you're willing to tweak.

Regardless, the Viper Steel for £150 is a solid buy.

I have to admit I cheaped out on RAM when I assembled my new build in September 2018. I bought 2x 2133 16GB DDR4 memory sticks for £ 161.50 ex VAT. I have them running at DDR4 2400 speeds.

RAM was more expensive back then, not interested in RGB as I don’t even have a windowed case.

They only seem to be listing the Asus Z-motherboards in the memory QVL though, not X. Is it cause for worry?

*Edit that is only for the highspeed ones, sorry!*

They should be fine.

There's a ridiculous amount of RAM out there, it's impossible for manufacturers to test all of it.
