Hi there,

I've got all my bits installed and Windows 7 64-bit installed. What should I do next?

On my mobo [Gigabyte Z68MA-D2H Intel Z68 (Socket 1155) DDR3] I have the following SATA ports:

SATA3_0/1
SATA2_2/3/4/5

I have the following drives:
  • Intel 510 Series "Elmcrest" 120GB 2.5" SATA-3
  • Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache
  • Sony Optiarc AD-5260S 24x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter

Can you help me plug the drives in the correct ports? I presume I should plug in the HDs into the SATA3 ports and the DVD into one of the SATA2?

What should I set in the BIOS? Do I need to switch on AHCI? Do I need to do this before I install windows? Anything else? Questions, questions... :D

Plug the Hdd's into the SATA 3 (the SSD into slot 0 and the WD into slot 1) and the DVD into SATA2 (slot 2)

BUT - if you're installing windows onto the SSD make sure that that is the only HDD device connected when installing for the first time. Only connect the WD once windows has been installed to the SSD.

Yes, enable AHCI before install.

Also, update the SSDs firmware before install if it's not upto date.
