its going to be a long summer (finished uni) and i was thinking which MMORPG i could play since i've hardly had the time in the past year lol...?

i played AOC on release... it had a few good touches but too many bugs and was wondering if things had been improved? also i remember pvp being a bit strange in that i could never kill anyone(being a guardian), visa versa, so in the end we would both just give up... and everyone looked the same!

what interests me about LOTRO is the lore... but my only concern is its age!

i'm hoping someone could persuade me as to which to play lol... thats unless you can suggest any other MMORPG (but i can't seem to see any or that are near release)?

p.s. didn't like WAR... and i don't fancy going back to WOW (same old)...

thanks!

Between those two choices, I personally would pick LOTRO. Its got a very good level of maturity in its userbase and community, fantastic visuals, servers are busy, the lore is superb, very playable as either a casual, solo or group experience.

Lotro lifetime sub here so guess which im going to advise you try ..

AoC i did have fun with but it felt like Guild Wars with a subscription, and was far too buggy.. cant comment on state of game atm but ive heard plenty of bad things

under £10 for Lotro compilation and mths subscription is well worth a dabble, Laurelin is the server to be on .. enjoy

hey, surely better off waiting for the winter before starting a mmorpg. Might as well make the most of the the weather and the longer days.

Last time I played the trial, it allowed all races but you couldn't play Rune-Keeper or Warden unless you had the expansion.

This is still the case (I'm using the 14-day trial at the moment) but Captain is really good fun so I don't feel like I'm missing out on the unavailable classes :)

EVE-ONLINE

^^ What he said.

EVE-Online is great fun, although it has a very steep learning curve!

Just went down town and bought LOTRO; seen too much praise on OCUK over the past few weeks, and it was only £15 for the game and expansion, which is reasonable :)

Installing now, looking forward to playing!

lol, thats slightly before i started to play on the pc : 0

anyways... think i'll give LOTRO a whirl, is there one or two expansions btw?

thanks in advance...

One expansion: Mines of Moria

I also have a lifetime sub and it's been a good game. I haven't been playing it to much due to work but it's certainly a much better game than AoC. The community is brilliant, the 'chapter' quests are very, very engrossing and you feel like you make just that little difference in the World.

Monster play is good fun every now and then as well!

Im suprised nobody mentioned City of Heroes, City of Villains. Not sure how these two games are doing as of late as I stoped playing a while back but they have had about 14 expansions to date, all free and the gameplay is right up there with the best of them. only reason I left a few years back was to go onto WOW, now playing EVE online with 3 accounts.WAR will get a look in an another 6 months if it survives.
