It's my birthday on Friday \o/ and I should have enough money to get myself a new 360 game. So far I'm torn between 4 that I fancy....

Splinter Cell: Double Agent
Madden 07
Need For Speed: Carbon
Tony Hawk's Project 8

With the exception of Splinter Cell I've played a demo of all of them and they all seem good. I fancy one that will take me a while to finish pretty much completely (even if I don't get all the achievement points), as this will be the last game I get myself until Christmas (though I've still got PES6, GoW, Marvel and Smackdown from recent weeks).

Any thoughts and ideas? :)

Splinter Cell. Fantastic game. Will take you a while to complete if you take the stealthy route. Onlines pretty fun aswell.

Haven't played the other 3.

Also you could hold out for Rainbow 6 if you wanted. Shaping up to be superb game.

I like the look of R6 Vegas tbh, that will most probably be the next game I go for.

Of the ones listed, there's no chance I would buy either Tony Hawks or NFS Carbon.

From the other two I would probably go for SC, tho if you do want longevity I would expect Madden to last longer.

I can't really comment on any of the games as I haven't played them, but if I was offered one, i'd probably take Tony Hawks, purely because i've played every other game in the series. Not sure which one will last the longest though, maybe Splinter Cell.

Splinter Cell is hard if you do it the stealthy way. I've had it since it was released and have only got onto the 4th mission (I think) takes a bit of patience and determination I think :p GoW keeps distracting me though...

Blah blah, blah etc.

blah blah badger badger badger mushroom mushroom blah blah

If I had to pick one I'd go for Tony Hawk's, Splinter Cell games always frustrate me and I don't find them fun, Madden 07's menu system drove me mad in the demo and I doubt NFS:Carbon will be that much different from the other driving games we have access to..

Although I'd rather play NHL07, but then again I'm a hopeless addict now :(

I personally thought SC was terrible. It played through with nothing but trial and error - if you died, you just kept dying 'til you found the right way. What I mean by that, is the first game (in particular) let you sit back in the shadows and see the best path round an enemy. You could then execute your plan, reacting on the spot. Where-as on the latest, it's far too difficult to stay stealthy; if you're seen, you have to shoot them. If you don't shoot them, you have to run back 'til he stops chasing, then repeat the exact same thing :\

Really unimpressed with it as a game - left a lot to be desired and was a huge let down in both my eyes, and that of my friend (who was a major SC fan).

My birthday on Saturday :), I know there will be a copy of Splinter Cell wrapped up for me, lass has bought another game I believe which may be Call of Duty 3 although could be Gears of War or Tiger Woods 07.

Since I dont know if Ive already been bought Gears of War, I cant go out and get it myself :(

I did think about that, but I'm not a huge online gamer (though GoW may change that), so I'd rather have something I can enjoy as a single player game :)

Fair enough! :) Vegas for me at least will be heavily used mostly on multiplayer. (like BF2:MC was as well). Will only play the singleplayer for the achievements.

If you enjoyed Hitman, which I see you played and remember and enjoyed Thief I'd recommend Splinter Cell.

This was my first Sam Fisher adventure and I thoroughly enjoyed the single player experience.

Also don't discount Enchanted Arms. Ok, it's linear and the fighting can get a little repetitive but the story is pretty good and the graphics especially fight animations are excellent. The strategy grid system for fights is well thought out with the Boss fights being the highlight.

It's very different to the freeform nature of Oblivion but I thoroughly enjoyed and finished it. I know NokkonWud bought and played this as well and could give you a second opinion.

Of those I would probably opt for Tony Hawks. I opted for NFS:Carbon when deciding on my latest purchase but I don't think that will fill your criteria for a long lasting game, although this is based on the previous games as I've only played this one for half an hour. Well I say played, more like played 5 minutes and watched 25minutes of cut scenes :p

I'd probs go for Tony Hawks 1st, and Splinter Cell 2nd. The other two don't interest me.

Have a happy happy birthday! \,,/.^_^.\,,/ :D
