Well i have been looking at parts to build my friend a PC.

He wants to play fallout 4 and has a budget of £600, he will need a complete system except monitor which he already has from his previous system.

I have no parts from the previous build as it went bang and he binned it over a year ago without asking me to take a look at it first

One thing i cannot decide on is the CPU.

He is never going to be overclocking and has no interest at all in this so i have been looking at the non K cpus (I5 4590 or 6500).

Which ones would you go for? comparing the two processors on CPUboss.com there doesn't seem to be much difference between the two.

Thanks

go for the cheapest tbh. There is no significant gains between either.

There'll be no noticeable difference between those two in games. Compare the cost of motherboard+CPU+memory in both cases then decide, because they take different memory and chipsets. The newer system (Skylake) will probably come to more, so then you've got to decide if the premium is worth it for newness.

P.S. don't go for a Z chipset (Z170) if there's no chance of overclocking, because the H170/B150/H110 chipsets should be cheaper.

Edit: same goes for Z97 vs H97 etc.

to be honest i think im going to stick with the 4590 as this is a cheaper option and just about fits in to his budget.

shame he needed a OS as this is nearly £100 down the pan already lol
