Help me decide on cans upgrade

Hi guys, currently I'm using a pair of Beyerdynamic DTX900's on my PC for games, music and movies. Now they are ok for that, they are comfortable and they were the nicest sound headphones I heard when I chose them (over the Sennheiser 595's would you beleive).

Anyway, the thing is they are covered in plastic and look very fragile, and I'm must looking for something with a little bit more about them without spending a fortune.

Currently I have these in my sights...

AKG 240 Studio (cheapest I've found them is £65)

Beyerdynamic DT770Pro (£77)

Sennheiser HD595's (£80)

I would prefer to have closed cans this time around, and also I need some that will be able to run without a headphone amp.

Max budget is £80.

Any suggestions, thoughts on the above ideas?

Mmmm, I caved in and went for the AKG's. Was based on the fact that they took the least to drive, cheapest, and also closed. Hopefully they will be worth it.

I used to have a pair of Medusa's that I used for gaming. However after I got my Beyerdynamics I didn't seem to use them anymore as the sound quality was just mind blowing.

The Medusa's are good, however not worth my than £30, they are no competitor's to some of the better stereo headphones for around the same price or cheaper.

Well, they arrived this morning I didn't even pay for next day delivery...

AKG 240 Studio's look very nice, sit on my head well, feel very comfortable (something my DTX900's weren't over long periods of time), sound very good from the off, however not going to form a proper opinion until I've had them a few days and let them burn in.

Happy so far, love the detatchable cbale aswell, great for keeping things tidy.

They are also loud enough when plugged into my Sony HD-3, so that's awesome, no need for an amp

Ah sorry, I can't get round to writing much atm, got a lot on with my band.

All I can say is these are amazing headphones. For the price they are exceptional. Only gripe I have is with the muffs after a while start to make my ears hot becuase they fit so perfectly lol

Everything just sounds so clean with them, they aren't the most exciting headphones, but just seem to suit everything.
