i dont play consoles so i only plan on using it for dvd's and with the toshiba it has freeview built in, i wont be getting sky.

True but it does depend on what you plan to connect. Do you have/are you planning to get SkyHD/VirginHD? Do you have/are you planning to get PS3/Xbox360Elite/BluRay?
If the answer to either of these is no then 2 will be enough.

There is very little between the specs except dynamic contrast ratio, but Samsung sometimes inflate their rating anyway.
Oh and the third HDMI socket on the Samsung is on the side so a permanent cable connected would look nasty.

ahh okies my bad. It does everything else you want but yeah limited in res.

Would be interesting to see the difference in screenies between 720p/1080i and true 1080p
