Right i have £500 saved up for weeks now to preorder a ps3 but now after reading aload of threads on conroe im really tempted to use the £500 just to buy the cpu.
My systems a beast anyway so it still has some life in it and i can play games still at high to max settings at 1280x1024.

you dont need the money straight away to pre-order though, you pay when they ship.

Id get an xbox 360 myself :)

your cpu upgrade will be rubbish in 6months anyway :p (well not quite)

Agreed, just buy a 360. And badda-bing, you've got a machine that can play games easily as well as your PC. :)

So yeah, pre-order a PS3, if there's no games when it comes out, flog it or cancel the pre-order. Keep the moolah in the time-being.

The Ps3 has all the best games like the final fantasy series, metal gear solid series, GTA, timesplitters, also a lot of new games. I think ill keep to the ps3 alright cheers for replies.

Ok after much thinking im still unsure on whether to get the xbox360 or ps3, but after finding out the wii can download snes classics like chrono trigger my mind is going everywhere.

Basically if i buy the xbox360 i probably will not use it to go online but just to play sp games but from what ive seen there aint many games out that look any good apart from perfect dark, fight night round 3 and burnout revenge.
But there is quite a lot of games that are coming out that i want like dead rising and 99 knights.

Do you need to be online to get the full enjoyment out the xbox360, does playing the games online really make a difference.
What would i need to go online, and whats the cost, also would i need to shell out on a router so i can have my pc and xbox360 connected at the same time.

Imho yes getting online for me was and stil is the best part of the whole xbox gaming thingy. It costs about £40 a year for the gold membership which allows you to play online and download demos, arcade games and other things like themes and gamer pics although they will cost you a tiny amount.

All you need to do is run a cat 5 cable, one comes with the premium system anyways....but run it from the back of the 360 to your router and voila you should be able to connect onto live. Otherwise buy a wireless adaptor for the 360...bit pricey at £50ish but you dont have to worry about cables and again just connect it to a wireless router and that should be it.
SAying that though, i havent used my wireless adaptor for the 360...should really get around to selling it at some point:p.

Ive just worked out what i could get for £350:
xbox360 console-£279.99
xbox360 wireless controller-£29.99
perfect dark zero-£39.99
free P&P
£349.97
is that a good deal.

IMO if you get PDZ it will ruin your 360 experience. Get Graw or COD2. COD2 is possibly the best SP FPS game I have played in a long time. Really Really good. GRAW is a good SP game and a quality online experience. A few of us play together regularly on live. I have to say most people I play with come back for more.

You already have a wireless controler in the Premium package. The second would be for a friend I assume. Also a plug and play charge kit is a fairly good investment (and a second battery for the second controler)

You should also get live. at £40 per year it works out at £0.11 a day.

An Xbox without live is like lemonade without sugar.

The thing that a lot of people without live do not realise is that it is a completely intragrated system. You sign up once and choose your Identity. That identity is shared accross all of your games, unlike say the PC or PS2 system where you need to create your identity for each game. You have a friends list, which lets you know who is online and what they are doing. You can send them a game invite or (if you are playing the same game) you can join their game at the click of a button. Also with some games eg GRAW. you can have a guest sign in and play on live with you, split screen (they can also sign in using a seperate Live account).

Burnout gets the win for both on and offline play outta those 2 but FN3 is supposedly good online.

Oblivion is good for offline or tomb raider : Legend

1 spare battery pack.

Also you get a 1 month Live trial with the 360 so be sure to use that first then top it up in a months time with the full gold subscription (be careful if you dont top it up or cancel it, it will simply take £40 from your credit card account)

BTW PD on the 64 was a cool game. However PDZ is fairly poor in comparison to the compition. its control system is not as good as COD or GRAW at doing the what they do exceptionally well. It might be ok for £15 but no more imo.

Condemed is supposed to be a good suspence First person ... Basher? But again probably not worth more than £25.

If you can get Kameo for about £20-£25 you should not be disapointed. Oblivion as mentioned is a good RPG and big enough to get you your moneys worth.

Also companies like ScreenSelect do games rentals in the same way as DVD rentals. So you can blast through all of the games and see what you like.
