This is going to sound a little pathetic considering I've sampled both operating systems, but I'm going to ask you anyway in the hope you'll convince me to save my money.

Back when vista was first released, i paid a fortune for the Retail Ultimate version, and have been using that all along on my main computer. I installed Windows 7 Ultimate (RC) as second OS and as the main OS on my laptop and quite liked it.

Basically, I'm asking your fine selves to convince me that its not really worth the jump to Win7 Ultimate when i already have Vista Ultimate.

Thanks!

I had Vista Ultimate (£125), wish I never bothered. Only used it for a short while then moved to Windows 7 betas, then RC, then paid for Win 7 Pro (£30 student version, wish I remembered that when I bought Vista Ultimate :( )

I'm actually going to Uni in septemper pending being accepted, so it may even be worth me holding out until then.

The offer's ended - though no reason to think it won't be back at some point, the Vista Ultimate Steal offer was around for ages. Saying that if you're studying anything IT related, depending on your faculty you may get access to MSDNAA, including Windows 7 for free.

Just a matter of the faculty offering it then. I guess most do since it also covers staff and lab equipment, so is a cheap way to meet their licensing requirements.
