Help me diagnose my problem please!

I bought the following system about 2 months ago and it is still not working:

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 G0
Gigabyte GA-P35C-DS3R (It's a Rev 1.2, and the BIOS has been updated to the F4 BIOS)
OEM Nvidia 8800 GTX
Corsair XMS2 PC5400C4 2GB (2x1GB sticks)
Corsair HX 520W
Western Digital 320GB AAKS
Lite-On DVD-RW
Abit Airpace Wifi PCI-E Card

I am using Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit, and I can install it, but I cannot install any games without getting errors, about things being corrupted.

So I RMA'd the motherboard, hard drive, memory, and cpu, and there were all tested and found to be working except the hdd which was replaced, but I am still getting the same problems.

What do you suggest could be the problem?

I know its obvious and you've probably done it, but have you checked that the mobo is setting the memory correctly from SPD. It could be wrong timings or lower voltage than necessary. Also, since you're running Vista64, driver issues pops into my mind straight away, are you sure every driver you're using is fully Vista64 compatible

yep I have checked all of those.

RAM SPD is 1.8 4-4-4-12

I've tryed running the memory at 1.9, 2.0, 2.1, and still no hope, and I've even downclocked the ram, and loosened the timeings.
 
I know its a pain, but to prove one way or another would be to dual boot it into another OS and try and install one of the programs you are having trouble with. At least that way you would know if it was hardware related, or an OS problem.
Maybe stick an XP virtual machine on, and try installing something then...

I have already tryed it with windows XP Pro 32-bit, and I get the exact same problem.

I second that idea. I have heard of issues with 64bit vista over 32bit. Trying XP would at least rule out any hardware issues.
 
This seems a very fishy subject because you have done a lot of diagnostics on it including RMAing a lot of componants.

Do you have spare kit laying bout? (memory e.t.c) you can try?

Personally when I get problems like this if I build them for people what I would do is take it all out of its case and start from scratch on a desktop bench. I feel sorry for whats happening I have been in the same situation and it turned out to be the power supply and low power.
 
sorry i was a bit slow with my post. If you are getting the same issues with xp do you get the problem just with games? Have you tried running 3dmark?
What kind of problems are you having. are they graphical errors of just error messages whilst installing?

As in, they could be dodgy, seeing as you mentioned there's data corruption ;)

Always worth exploring every possible avenue, as you just know it'll end up being something really inconspicuous

won't install without corruptions, Havn't tryed 3DMark06 no, what will that do?

I've tryed the memory in my mates system, and it worked fine.

I don't have any of my own spare parts though, because my last build was DDR1, AGP gpu etc...

I was old the HX520 was sufficient for powering my rig?
 
That's really bad. Try installing the game from a networked drive on another machine. If the system is running properly I'm putting my money on a problem with drivers you're installing for vista for the IDE controller or somthing like that. Specially considering you've checked DVDrom drive and cables.

and how would I go about do what you said? I don't have a server, and I don't know how to setup a network from one drive on a different machine to another, if you could explain how, then I'd be grateful.

It is enough but not to say it's failing or providing insufficient power e.t.c. Just because your memory works in your mates computer doesn't mean its going to work in yours. Could be timings on the memory e.t.c. Have you ran memtest 86 on it? http://www.memtest.org/ Give it a go post your results. Do you have another DVD drive you can try?
