Hi all, i've built my luuuurvly new system (see sig for spec) I've just done my first 3dmark06 and scored 10018. So far everything is at stock apart from the Cellshock PC2-8000 (which is at it's rated 1000Mhz 4-4-4-12 2.2V unlinked FSB) I've tried overclocking using the Nvidia 680i overclocking guide (which can be read HERE )
In 3dmark06, my Watercooled 8800GTX ate all of the graphics tests without breaking a sweat so i'm not too bothered about overclocking that for now (Unless you think I should :p ). I have tried before but it made the system very unstable.

However, the CPU tests made my poor little E6600 weep at stock settings. Despite the guide I really don't know where to start here. I'm feeling pretty confused but i'm eager to learn how to overclock this thing. Can anyone give me some pointers please? :)

doooont panic m8 :D the cpu tests makes evey single cpu weep in dispaire its riculously hard on the cpu and you will be lucky to see much over 1fps.

as for overclocking the conroes will normally happily overclock by a small reasonable amount often with no volatge changes. my e6700 went from 2.67 to 3.3ghz with nothing more than fsb change to 330 and that was it :) any more than that and may need a voltage tweak.

oh good lol :D even so, this system is just begging to be OCed, appartantly the P23Final bios for the evga 680i makes overclocking better all round. For the amount of time it took for it to stick on my system (you know that infamous thread as well as I :p ) I might as well make use of it

omg its you lmao yeah m8 know the probs you had been folowing yoru thread.and yeah c2d's just love an overclock i went for the easy one as mentioed in above post :D just changed fsb and that was it so easy felt illegal :D

rofl great way of phrasing it :D So what tests did you do to make sure the OC you have now was stable? And for how long? Also, what would one have to do to be able to continue overclocking after stock volts? Would it just be VCore, or something else?

omg question questions :p

ermm as for tests im now going to run the risk of being abused from the real overclockers on here but i dint use any tests lol. basically i done it and then used my pc for several multi hour gaming sessions and other things and dint reboot for a coupel of days and all seems fine :)

as for the volt thing yeah when thinsg start to get unstable you can incresae *** volts. but by how much i dont know im strictly an amture overclocker lol
