Considering the dell u4323qe, looking for:

USB-C
4K
16:9 or 16:10 ie not ultra wide

Not bothered about HDR but do want black blacks and nice brightness, I am accustomed to the 27” version of the dell.

I don’t know whether to just stick with what is familiar, but it is a lorra lorra money and I did wonder if there were cheaper options, maybe TV options, that will see me right for hours spent in dark mode VS code.

Thank you all!

Most TV's have glossy screens which is terrible for computer use. Just checked the price, it;s less than £1000 which seems pretty cheap actually. Personally I really , very much prefer hi refresh screens. Yes 60 hz units are fine but everything, including just using windows explorer is better at higher hz. I don't know any high hz screen that size except maybe a lg oled but maybe you could get matt film to put on it

43" is a big screen. Its too big to have on a desk like a normal monitor personally ( i have one at the moment on the desk ). Its not so much the resolution, but the sheer size of it. Unless, you sit further away, then its corners are beyond what your eyes can glance towards, so you then need to move your head about to the corners ... which after a while its a pain, particularly as it'll likely sit higher than your eye level, so you end up cricking your neck back for periods of time.

I typically end up using a window in the centre of it for the in-focus program I'm using at the time ... as maximised windows are just to physically large to mouse about across.

I'm looking at down sizing to a 32" ( I had a 1440p 32" before and much preferred the size ) ... and would consider 27" as well if i'm honest.

this is very true. I used to used a 65 LCD panel as my screen but i did sit about 2 metres away... I've used a 42 4K in the past and i'd say 42 is about the size that you can run 1:1 4K and have it far enough away still to read it without having it too far away. If you have a metre deep desk (3ft+) then it will be fine. 32 is similar, but it will look smaller, and will be too close before it matches the same size. I use a 32 4K just now and it's readable, but 'small'.
