Hi all,

From another thread of mine on here you may remember me mentioning about building a pallet bed.

Well this is about to be completed. The only that's needed to finish off the room is a ceiling light of some description. In the spirit of going full hipster, I am looking for something which uses many of those bulbs that look very old and give off very little light, the bulbs look like this.

I know they're a form over function but if you have a fitting with lots of them (thinking 5 or 6 or more) then it could work well I think.

I've seen stuff like this in movies and TV shows. Any ideas where I could buy a fitting like this?

I was looking at building a bookcase. Just like this:

hhSGgbV.jpg

Some strips of pine, stained, bashed up a bit
Some flanges and threaded pipes.

But WOW. It came out so expensive so I didn't bother in the end. Unless I was looking in the wrong place, the flanges are £5, £6, £7 each, and to think you will need 32 of them!

"Vintage" tax.

Possibly looking in the wrong places or using the wrong terminology. I had this problem when putting a light together. All my search terms brought up people selling the items with mark up as "vintage". Eventually found out the proper technical names and was able to buy the parts needed really cheap.

^ Was just about to mention that as I was at Ikea yesterday and saw them, they're called Nittio. The OP's photo is the same as on Ikea's site. They look great and Ikea are bound to have some interesting pendant for them.

Domed lids and 20mm galv conduit

http://www.screwfix.com/p/deta-galvanised-spouted-dome-covers-20mm-pack-of-10/1836j

http://www.screwfix.com/p/deta-class-4-conduit-tube-galvanised-20mm-x-3m/7734j (not sure if its a mis-print or screwfix have got a special batch for logistics reasons.... but it usually comes in 3.75m lengths not 3m

Bear in mind though you need to cut an M20 thread on the ends, but I am sure there are folks on here who would probably be able to do you pre-cut threaded sections to the lengths you require.

Nice find! 10 for £5.80. Thanks!
