So a couple of years back my old HTPC case's PSU packed up, and as it was a custom one for the slim case I ended up chucking the case because there wasn't a replacement PSU available.
I'm now wanting to stick the old components (currently in a mini-tower case) into a new HTPC case, but I'm a bit stuck trying to find one that meets the requirements - any suggestions?
1) Black, stylish, needs to be able to be mounted horizontally.
2) Needs to be able to fit at least 1x 3.5in drive, and perhaps ideally 2. I've a 2TB HDD full at the moment which needs to go in, and ideally another wouldn't be a terrible idea. I could get a 4TB 2.5in HDD i suppose, but it seems like ~£150 spending for not a lot of benefit.
3) Can fit ATX motherboard with an i5 3570K. I've been experimenting with the 3570 and my BIOS allows me to turn off Turbo mode, disable 2 of the cores and run it as a twin-core at 2.4Ghz, or even less if I wanted to. Haven't had a good look at the power consumption at this spec tho.
Again - Seems a shame to have to ditch perfectly working kit, when it does fine for what I need it for.
The Fractal Node 202 looks a tempting contender, but it looks like it'll take a bit of modifying even to get a single 3.5in disk inside it, so it doesn't really solve much of the issues sadly.
Any suggestions?
