Hi all, I decided to create a new Topic with information Ive learned (rather than reviving the old topic) basically my Keyboard (Razer Arctosa) died, I rushed into buying the Logitech G110 (which wasn't right for me) So I want to take the Time (with your help) to find the right Keyboard for me :)

Details
Must Have: NO Keys or buttons on the left side of the board (like macro keys next to Escape, Tab, Caps Lock etc)
Price: less than £100
Style: would proffer Mechanical (Cherry Red Switches)
Color: LOW PRIORITY (I'm NOT bothered about Lights) but If i Had to choose id go with Red
Media Keys: I listen to allot of Music while gaming so this is a must have (would prefer them on there own like with the Razer Arctosa) but would be open to the function key setup too.
Most Importantly: something reliable, I sit at the desk all day everyday so I need something that wont quickly fade or die :p

Sorry to be a pain in neck, but I really want to get it right this time. Ive looked at over 100 Keyboard this week so information along with recommendations would be greatly appreciated (instead of just spam links :D )

Thanks All.

the rapid version doesn't have any backlight and use the USB>ps2 to get nkro no faff. I did think the lack of num pad would do my head in but I've grown to it remarkably easy and quickly.

its a very nice board Ive looked at it a couple of times, the only thing putting me off (other than the price :p ) is reviews saying that the LED's stay on (even when the computer is off) not sure if there's a way around that but I sleep in the same room as the computer so that would annoy me :D

I think the same way & tbh I have to admit I cant remember the last time I used the number pad ;)

Thanks for Posting Guys.

MK-85, it fulfills all your criteria except price is slightly over with OcUK. I got one of these just before Xmas, and I have to say so far its the best keyboard I've used. A joy to type and game with, and the feel of a quality robust product.

YOUR BASKET
1 x Qpad MK-85 Red LED Pro Backlit Mechanical Gaming Keyboard - UK Layout - Red Switches £109.99
Total : £118.69 (includes shipping : £7.25).

Edit: Ah apologies, I just spotted that someone else already recommended this and you've disregarded it on price. I'm going to leave it posted anyway, just because its a great KB. Mine was on offer at ~£99 at the time, but I see its gone up a bit. Probably to do with the pound being weaker against the dollar, or something.

Not at all, Thank you for posting. I haven't completely ruled it out yet (its not far out the price range :p ) & I do seem to find myself looking at it again & again :D but as I said in my last post my main concern is the reports about the LED's staying On when the computer is turned off (I sleep in the same room as the computer so if the Lights are on all night it would annoy me :p ) do you have any problems with the LED's ?

The LED issue is fixable and not actually a fault with the keyboard.

You can either turn the LED's off using the keyboard controls (Fn & 2-8) or there's an energy saving feature on the motherboard that you dissable to stop it happening altogether.

There's a garbled thread on it here...

My keyboard and headset LED's used to stay on after shutdown intermittently, not any more though.

Edit: Almost forgot, you might also look at the M-50 which at £64.99 is significantly cheaper for what is basically the same keyboard. You only miss out on backlit keys and some connector options, usb hub etc.

ok Thanks again for posting m8,

this might be a retarded question but I noticed coming from the keyboard is a USB + Audio cables, do u have to plug the Audio Cables from the keyboard into the PC? (I ask because I have quite an elaborate setup at the back of my PC so Id rather not change it) im assuming that not plugging them in would only stop the audio inputs on the keyboard not work & not cause any problems for the keyboard, would that be right?

I think the audio jack is just a pass-through and as Sayso already said you don't have to use it. I just have it plugged in as a basic USB keyboard.

I own a cherry black MK85 and It's a brilliant keyboard. I've never had any issues and it has the media function keys alone the F keys. There's also the Mk80 which is a bit cheaper.
