The fabric that covers the ceiling in my car is coming loose. It's a tatty old car, so I don't normally mind, but now it's hanging low enough that it's starting to block the view out the back. I've tried glueing it, it just comes loose again after a day or so. I've tried using industrial strength adhesive to hold it up there, but it pulls down chunks of the fluffy stuff that covers the ceiling, and hangs loose again.

What do I do? :(

What car is it? Really the only solution is a new headlining, might be able to pull one off a scrapper if it's that tatty and old?

Okay, I'll have a hunt around some breakers then. Is it hard to install? I know I'll have to remove all the trimming up there. Will the new board need gluing, or will the trimming be enough to hold it up?

Okay thanks. There's a breakers that specialises in vauxhall parts so hopefully they'll have something with the right dimensions.

Some of the trim doesn't seem to be removable because there aren't any screws that hold it in.

Here's a thought, would a staple gun work? I mean, it's just board behind that fabric, right?

you have to remove all the trim before it will drop down. This will usually include sunvisors, courtesy lights, grab handles etc...

it should then be able to jiggled out of place.

Staple gun not advisable.

They are removable, try a haynes manual or possibly an owners forum.

I've seen it done with a staple gun in plenty of old Saab 900's so it'll probably work in an Astra. I won't look good but will at least keep it out of the way.
