I'm trying to get away from World of Warcraft and online gaming in general. My 'real life' has taken a big knock thanks to them. But I still need to have access to the net, i-tunes and printing docs. Would a netbook be a good choice? I'm used to having a 3ghz quad core so I'm expecting a big slowdown but I don't want to be running at a snail pace.

So I mainly want to limit my access to online gaming (not browser games, just real games) but still have fairly good speed. Anyone have any suggestions?

Thankyou

Just go out and do something :) You will see that its more fun than online gaming. Buying a netbook isnt the best way of going about it.

What a funny thread although I do feel the OP's pain. I had a similar addiction to Championship Manager (now Football Manager) once, In the early 00's. Just couldn't stop playing the darn thing. Even took laptop in to work and played it on the sly. In the end just woke up one morning and flogged the game. End of and never bought one since.

I have now become ping pong champion, married a girl called Jenny and built my business empire "Bubba Shrimp". Oh hang on, or was that Forrest Gump.

On a serious note, willpower is whats needed. If you don't trust yourself then just get a decent laptop as others have suggested. Still think its a bit extreme to change your whole system rather than just get shot of the game, but I guess its whatever works for you mate :)

uninstall WOW....bingo...no more problem

Moeks...I hear you in the footy manager things....12 hours a day :(

Think its was directed at me. I feel your pain though buddy :D lol

I leant it to my Dad before selling it (thinking he would like it). Had it over the weekend and came in looking like death warmed up (whatever that means). Anyway, he was hanging.

Had the game in his hand and gave it me back. Shocked I said "don't you like it". He said "yeah, liked it but just a little too much". He had about 4 hours sleep that whole weekend, the rest was spent trying to get Bristol City in to the Premier League. Its such a tough game to stop playing so I do kinda know what the OP is saying but as others have said. Will power must prevail :-)

Why not come up with some kind of routine to break your gaming cycle?

Goto the gym a few times a week...

Find a pub quiz for folk to goto

Make use of orange wednesdays...

lots of other simple things you can do...

Rather than spend your kudos on a netbook, why dont you keep your quad core, and splash the cash on a holiday, or even a weekend trip to alton towers or something?

sell your wow account, dont play another mmo as they are all the same and all take up large amounts of your time(and money);)

You have clearly realised you have an issue, sell your wow account, keep your pc, and just be done with mmorpg's. You dont have to stop gaming all together, just play casually, dont sit up until ridiculous times, go out do stuff

goto gym, pub whatever. PLay when your bored...

i played wow once for 3 years, almost 5-6 night a week, got myself a gf, and it went down to 2-3 days a week now i dont play mmorpg's just a few fps now and then,

try it..
