Help me get rid of an annoying notification sound please

I go on a certain website and every click I make, my Sophos Endpoint virus checker brings up a notification with the 'Windows Notify System Generic.wav' sound and it's doing my head in.
I can't change anything on the program itself because the NHS have given it me and it's locked down.
I've been into the Change System Sounds and the main notification is the above WAV file but if I change it to a softer sound it doesn't work.
I've been into the Sophos folder to see if there's a WAV in there but nothing.
I've tried to lower the sound by editing in Soundforge but it must be a protected file.

Any ideas except for not using the site or turning down my speakers?

Can you right click the volume control in the bottom right corner and bring up the volume mixer? From there you might be able mute system sounds but leave other sounds on. For example, mine looks like this...

I've got something easier than that but it means I can't hear a film I'm watching on the other monitor.
I just want to fix it so I don't have to bugger about.

After a reboot the sound changed to a much less annoying one so problem solved
