My wife's work computer has got virus/spyware. I am attaching a log of hijackthis and would appreciate if anyone can tell me what to delete.

Her current antivirus (Norton corporate version) is asking for password which she is not aware of, so I am unable to do a scan.

Can anyone help please.

I don't really know anything about HiJack logs.

You could attempt to run an online virus scanner?

You could attempt to run an online virus scanner?

Haha the legendary online virus scanners :p

They the ones that install viruses/spyware while they pretend to scan?

Download a 30-day trial of Kaspersky. Install, and check the box saying enable self-protection before install. Update definitions. Set all scan settings to max, run a full scan. Job done.

First off, download and run these programs:

Norton Removal Tool. Norton is a terrible program, and it can't even be removed manually, the persistent bugger. Hopefully one day OEM's will stop using it.

A free antivirus. This could be Avast!, Avira or AVG (although it seems AVG isn't free any more). If you're willing to pay, NOD32 (get it from ocuk for cheaper) and kaspersky are good too (also cheaper at ocuk).

a free anti-spyware program. this could be Spybot S&D, Malwarebytes, or superantispyware. You can run several at once though, so if one doesn't fix it, you could try another.

You might also want to download a new firewall after removing norton.

If none of these programs give you any luck, try posting the HijackThis log on one of the forums with the HJT experts. Unless there are some on here, I don't know.

There's nothing wrong with the main online virus scanners.

According to the hijackthis.de website, these lines in your log are the problem:

C:\Documents and Settings\purnima.joshi\lsass.exe - trojan, delete this.
C:\WINDOWS\system32\frmwrk32.exe - trojan, delete this.

It is also recommending you install and run LSPFix from cexx.org.

Guys keep the replies coming, so far nothing has worked.

@Moley Hijackthis is not even showing me those entries again. What shall i do?

Can't remove any security software due to it being company software.

Tried to boot into safe mode to do all the checks and now it wont accept the damn password.

It's driving me crazy. Does anyone know how to come out of the safe boot sequence (Win XP SP3)?
