I'm trying to work out the best theoretical way to hook up the kit that I have via ethernet, I'll list below what I'm using.
Homehub 3
PC
NAS
500mbps powerline adapters
Gigabit switch
Now, the HH3 is in the study downstairs, and all of my gear is up in the loft room. To get a solid connection, I've got the Powerline adapters hooked up, so that takes care of that. The conundrum comes with where to put the NAS.
Am I right in thinking that even if I have the PC and the NAS connected to the gigabit switch, which in turn is connected to the powerline adapter, the data will travel from NAS > Switch > Powerline adapter > HH > Powerline adapter > switch > PC? There isn't some way the transfer works so it effectively just goes between devices by only going through the switch and as such can make use of the gigabit connection.
I know it might sound like something silly to ask, but I'm just wondering whether there is a better way to organise this, given the kit I have is all different speeds.
Cheers,
Dave.
