Help me get to prague

So me and a mate are looking to go to prague at the start of next month. We are looking for a hostel in or around either Wenceslas Square or the old town.
Has anybody reading this been before and if so where do you think will be better going. Also have you any suggestions for where to book it would be much appreciated.

Nothing to do with hostels or anything like that, but make sure you can actually get in to the country, my friend was turned away because she was Australian and didn't have a visa.

Broon - have you tried seeing how much a hotel or an apartment is?

There were 5 of us but we only paid £12.50 a night each for a top notch place in the Old Town. It must have been 3*+ maybe even 4*.

I thought having a passport allowed me to travel pretty freely around the EU. I'm not going over to work, just for a few days so I won't need a visa. Is there anything else required and if so can you point me at where to get it please.

Yes because you're a British citizen I presume. She was not. Something to do with the way Australia are really really fussy about their immigration policiy aswell.

Yeah I saw this site with beds from under a a tenner. Did you book online and if so can you remember where?
I just want to be sure the website is reliable so I don't turn up only to find I have nowhere to stay.
