Not really an animal person, had a family dog as a kid but that may change when we move to a bigger house. I saw a dog on the leash the other day and just had to ask the person what breed it was - she said it was from Greece but didn't know the breed. It was very much like a small, long hared labrador but had a smaller snout, quite pointed like a greyhound. It isn't a Greek Harehound or Cretan Hound

It might have been a Alopekis but if anyone has a better idea I am all ears, my google-fu isn't strong on this one

A Saluki maybe?

That's the closest so far, this one had long hair all over. Perhaps it was a mongrel

E: Actually I think it may have been one of these crossed with long haired labrador. Hopefully I see the owner out with it and can confirm but it was a beautiful dog

If it is part sighthound and part something else then it's just a lurcher, albeit with exotic lineage. If it looked a bit Saluki-ish with the droopy ears but isn't pure then it may have some Afghan hound in it as they have that look about them. It sounds too small to have those breeds in it though. Whippet would be the smaller sighthound to give it that distinctive body shape or if it is really tiny then perhaps part Italian greyhound.

Necro to this old thread. Ran into he owner while jogging, it's a Borzoi. He had no idea why his misses though it was a Greek breed

So not Greek at all but a Russian Wolfhound! :D

The small bit threw me off. A Borzoi is pretty big as far as sight hounds go. Perhaps it was a puppy when you first encountered it?

Well smaller than the average lab. It was a bitch, smaller than average borzoi I guess.

Actually I might write to my MP so see if we can introduce the Labrador as a unit of measurement now we're heading out of the EU
