Hi Guys,

As a continuation to my thread last week about some scum hitting my car whilst it was parked in the day, and driving off without leaving his details.

I have now watched through 9 hours of Low resolution CCTV, and I think I've found the culprit!!..

Trouble is the resolution is crap and I can't identify the make or model, looks like a Toyota or Mitsubishi...

Anyone able to identify the above car (seconds before impact), I can then go to the main site CCTV and ask if I can have a small snippet covering this time frame and see if I can get a better angle on the car and hopefully it's reg number!

The police are actually interested in what ever I find!! plus the Insurance will then pursue a claim back for my Excess!!

Cheers
Sim :)

Looks like a honda accord estate. But the front grille looks renault laguna (ish). I am looking at a small pic on my phone though.

Got another Grab

Looks too short for an Accord! :(

Hopefully the other CCTV cameras will get a better image (even the REG number if I'm lucky) Just hope I can get the footage!

Dunno if this will work (it's 85Mb) from my Copy Cloud link...

It's at 12:21 and about 30 seconds onward, you see him stop abruptly, back up, hesitate then drive on (my car is just off the camera view hence me wanting footage from other cameras on site!)

It's the only car that goes anywhere close to the back of my car in the entire 9 hour period!!

Can't be a Sirocco as it has too many doors. Also with the lack of rear overhang it look more like a hatchback than an estate to me.

Am just downloading the clip at the mo so if anything pops up will report back.

The aspect ratio is a bit skewed on the video, looks like a MK5 Golf in dark blue, but IDK. It's not exactly an abrupt stop either imo, there could easily be someone arseing about in the road out of shot

I'd vote for either a new Polo or Golf.

Profile shape and size look right - I'd maybe err more towards the Polo for size of car, shape of lower grill and the aggressive cut of the front splitter.

May be a GT/GTi or other performance trim model.

Like others have said. Your image is stretched wide - have adjusted it and it looks better to me...

Had a look at the vid, took me a while to realise that the 12:21 you refer is the actual time on the clip, the car goes by at 21:27 ish.

To me it looks like a Toyota Auris or something similar, there are various stages where the front does look like a Honda Accord/Civic but the rear of the car is just too upright for it to be a Civic and the overhang looks too short for it to be an Accord Tourer.

EDIT: Now that I've replayed the clip in 4:3 it looks more like a Seat/Fiat? Maybe I need to got to Specsavers :)
