Got an old motherboard with processor and memory in it from a friend, he was about to throw it out, but I nabbed it. Was gonna stick it in an old case and mess about with it.
It's a Gigabyte GA-71XE board with one of those SLOT style AMD Athlon CPU's
The numbers ontop of the CPU are as follows.

AMD-0750MPR24B A
230028001252

Could someone let me know what it is, as I don't have a clue and don't have an old case or PSU to try it out yet.

yes it can be overclocked easily. should hit 1ghz if its the socket type and not the slot type.

they do tend to run hot so make sure your cooling is up to scratch, mind you back in those days heatsink technology was crap but with a current generation heatsink, like a gigabyte g-power you will get good cooling.
