Ok, first off are you sure that you have a 32bit ubuntu install on that usb stick?

Secondly maybe you should try again with a netbook version of ubuntu, while it shouldnt change anything, you'll get a UI which will probably be much better for you - http://www.ubuntu.com/netbook/get-ubuntu/download

According to this page there is nothing special to report on that hardware - https://help.ubuntu.com/community/AspireOne/Ubuntu9.10

first, on the ubuntu netbook download page it doesnt give an option for 32 or 54bit.

second, i did use ubuntu netbook. When i boot of usb it comes up with 1 line of text, i left netbook on for 3 hours but nothing

Yes i know it should work but it doesnt. Iv read that people are having trouble because off the SSD.

Tried another USB stick. Working fine now :)

When i boot of USB it says "SYS 4.02 2010 07 21 EDD COPYRIGHT (C) 1994-2010 H.PETER ANVIN ET AL"

Glad you got it fixed Marc :)

I take it that the problem may have been associated with the USB stick used?

How do you find the netbook version of Ubuntu?

Awesome :-)

That text is what syslinux prints out when booting. It's a bootloader (like grub or lilo) but usually used in embedded devices or USB sticks/CDs.

Sorry about the stupid first questions, but you didn't mention what ubuntu version you where using, I thought better to check before going any further! :D

btw on a netbook you may want to try meego, it runs in live mode off a USB stick fairly well so it's easy to give it a go : www.meego.com
