So I have been backwards and forwards from 7 to 10 over the last few weeks and just cannot get used to the new start menu in Windows 10. The wholes tiles thing is useless for me, I dont use 'apps' rather programs and there is a number of issues with the start menu that I find so infuriating.
Where has the favourites tab when to? How instead of one click to get to a favourite website it is numerous.
In 7 when I hover the mouse over the Steam icon in the start menu all my recent games come up, this is not happening in 10, anyone know how to make this happen?

Windows Live Mail app fails to work

Cortana fails to work (cant sign into my Microsoft account for some reason)

I know this is a bit of a disjointed rant but I am really struggling to get used to this and could do with some pointers from folk who have successfully migrated across.

I went for a clean install of Win7 with a direct upgrade before doing any tweaking. I don't find tiles all that useful either and there are some quirks that can be annoying. Overall I like it, the system management is clean and easily accessible if you abuse the search box.

Re: the Steam thing. I don't know if this is something to do with the app. I never really used this as I have a whole section of shortcuts on my desktop for games as I play a lot of different things for shorter periods of time. There may be an integration piece missing on the Steam side as browsers etc still show recent URL's etc but Steam just has the tasks bit and if you go into Settings in Steam you can choose what shows on the right click from taskbar but there is no options there to show recent or favourite games.

I've just fresh installed win10 & my recent games are there if I right click the steam icon.

Also - just discovered: windows key + x which brings up a very useful menu list of short-cuts.

Overall I'm reasonably happy with it now compared to 7. Looking ahead, we will have no choice anyway if we want to take advantage of dx12 features in new games.

Yeah that's the thing, we will all have to change in the end!

Answer = Classic Shell!

Ace program, now 10 looks like 7!

Although I prefer the total familiarity and functionality of 7, I think I will stick with 10 from now to take the pain now rather than a future date. 10 certainly feels snappier, with some still annoying things, such as 2 control panels?? Seriously, pick one or the other!

It's a dream in multi monitor mode.

I don't use apps either or any start menu. I pin things I need to taskbar, couple of desktop shortcuts. The rest I get through the run box
