Help me move to mini ITX

Hi all,

I'd really like to migrate my large PC down to mini ITX: ideally in a Fractal Design Terra case. I rarely game on it these days aside from occasional MSFS + a few indie games and the case takes up an unnecessarily large space. I'm keen to re-use as much of my existing components as possible, but obviously things like the motherboard will need to be changed. I've no idea what is compatible these days as my current rig is 9 years old apart from the GPU I recently upgraded. Here's what I currently have:

CPU: Intel Core i7 4790K
Motherboard: Asus Z97-A
RAM: 16GB Kingston HyperX Savage Red DDR3 @ 1866MHz
GPU: NVIDIA RTX 4070 SUPER Ventus 2X OC 12GB
PSU:SuperFlower Golden Green 550W
Heatsink/Fan: Be Quiet! Pure Rock
Drives: 2x SSD

Any pointers on what needs to be replaced will be much appreciated! Or perhaps everything needs to go apart from the GPU ;(

Many thanks!

From what I can see of the specs, ATX PSUs are not compatible with the case, it needs SFX/SFX-L.

There are 2x 2.5" mounts for SSDs, so you're likely fine here.

CPU cooler max height is 48mm or 77mm (depends on your config) so I think your cooler is out too.

Personally, I'd suggest looking at something like Lian Li's A3, but I can appreciate it ain't small.

Thanks for looking. That's not too bad. I assumed PSU and probably HS/F was out, so was prepared to replace those. Doing a tad more research looks like I'm best getting a 2nd hand Asus Z97i Plus as it'll take all my old components. Otherwise if I get a new motherboard, I reckon I'd need to replace CPU + RAM too.

Will check out the A3 though.

Yeah, but don't pay too much for one, because otherwise you might as well buy a 12100F/12400F and a cheap ITX H610 board.
