First and foremost HELLO im new to the forum.

I own the following pc:
removed it. SORRY FOR BEING A BADDIE.

This is the spec:
# Intel Pentium D 950 Dual Core Processor
# 3.4GHz, 800MHz FSB
# Microsoft Windows XP Media Center
# 2GB DDR RAM
# 400GB Hard Disk Drive
# VD ROM Drive + Dual Layer DVD RW Drive
# 512MB nVIDIA GeForce 7600GS Graphics
# 300GB Removable Hard Drive

I've got two questions:

Whats roughly the max i can overclock it to / do i need to change any parts on the comp to overclock it?

What would be the best way to spend 200-300ish sterling to improve it?

THANK YOU AND GOOD DAY.

edit: this is for playing games css and hopefully cod4/crysis.

1st off welcome to the forums. Second, remove the link as you cannot mention or link to competitors. That pc is not worth half that price and clearly illustrates the rip off nature of the purple shirts brigade. You could have had a massively better pc priced up here for less than that.

You will be very lucky to get any clocking out of that as there will be few, if any options in the bios.

As for upgrading it, the best way would be to fit a Core2Duo/Quad (that's if you can, dependant on the motherboard) and a new graphics card.

Hey m8y, I'd remove that link if I were you, linking to competitors is baaaad, check FAQ.

GL with your question. :)

The first thing to upgrade would be the graphics card, it will give you the largest performance boost. 512mb 7600GS isn't too great really, the move to a 3850/3870 or 8800GT (even the 256mb versions) would allow you to run far higher resolutions/details. :)

As InkZ has said, you could also fit a Core2 chip if your motherboard allows it. Run something like Everest or CPU-Z to find out what chipset your motherboard has.
For getting an overclock out of the CPU you'd need a new motherboard though.
Your old RAM would work fine so that wouldn't need to be upgraded.
