So my first thread here was this:
http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18156660

I actually got a full time temp job over the summer 8-4:30 5.50 an hour. Not bad for a 17 year old.

Earnt 1200 quid but already spent 200 of it.

Would like to keep 100 spare and spend 900 on a computer.

Things I don't need:
Monitor

Things I need:
The system
OS
Keyboard (G11)
Mouse (MX518)

lets just say the total price of the keyboard + mouse is 55 quid.

So basically the budget is 845 quid.

I was looking at i5 build with a gtx 460.

I'll get paid on the 1st of september so will order then.

Opinions please :)

thanks in advance.

First off thanks.

Would dropping down to the Asus 110 quid one and spending the extra 30 on a case be beneficial?

Plus I'm going to have this for a long time. Second year of college -> last year of uni. I'll probably upgrade on the way. But because of this do I really need full retail win7?

Looking at the i5 motherboards (6gbps) only 2 of them support SLI =/ the most expensive yet all of them support crossfire. That sucks. Lemme come up with a self spec then you can comment.

Says this on the Asus version

2x PCIe 2.0 x16 Slots
Users can flexibly switch between full-speed PCIe x16 mode for their graphics cards and IO Level UP for rapid data throughput.

Hmm well that sucks. I was thinking though in the future instead of going down the SLI route I could just go 470/480 or maybe something else when nVidia bring out new cards..

Well I'm more of a fan of single card setups anyway, reduces your electricity bill slightly. ;) And it means you'll have 1 new card with the latest features instead of 2 old cards when it comes to upgrading.

True true.

Just looking. Swapping the i5 + mobo for...

X4 with the lowest 890FX mobo saves me around 30 quid.

So the i5 is 4 cores 4 threads as is the phenom X4.

phenoms got higher clock speed so what's better :S. So much choice.
